POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Housing Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Housing Director with the coordination of daily activities and tenant’s/home buyers in accordance with established policies, procedures, and programs. The Housing Assistant Director adapts such policies and procedures to ensure that work is done with accuracy and completeness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the Housing Director with daily duties as well as coordinate and delegate the Housing Department’s operations in the absence of the Director.
  2. Assist with the monitoring and oversight of all Housing employees along with employee evaluations.
  3. Assist with the development and implementation of staff trainings, conducting the trainings as needed.
  4. Coordinates with the Resident Services Department with conveyance paperwork including resolutions, Deed, Assignment and Release, etc.
  5. Assists clients in filling out necessary housing applications and recertification paperwork.
  6. Assists in making payback agreements with tenants/participants regarding propane, rent, etc.
  7. Helps receive maintenance requests for repair/work orders and issues work orders.
  8. Prepares legal documents, attends Tribal Court cases and prepares documents with tribal attorneys.
  9. Helps develop policies to assist the Housing Director with the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Housing Department budgets, procurement activities, and ensures the Tribes financial management policies are in compliance. 
  10. Maintains all management and computer backup files for the Housing Department.
  11. Updates all maps, lists and forms for the Housing Department.
  12. Inputs data with existing Housing Department computer programs.
  13. Help develop new housing opportunities with include but not limited to grant proposal development, planning and implementation of strategies to enhance revenue growth develop opportunities to diversify FPSHD portfolio to attract additional revenue and funding sources for housing improvements and/or housing development.
  14. Other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. Work independently on all required tasks without constant supervision.

2. Ability to work with the public, strong communication skills is required.

3. A good working knowledge of the standard computer programs which include, but are not limited to word processing, spreadsheets and use of computer graphic programs.

4. Skills to carry out necessary office practices and procedures.

5. Experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting.

7. Capability to understand, put into practice Housing Department policies and procedures.

8. Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

9. Skills to operate office machines such as faxes, copiers, printers, transcribers and multi-line telephones.

10.Proficient in typing with minimum errors, able to proofread and correct errors.

11.Knowledge of the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) and its regulations.

12.Understanding of the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHGB) formula and federal requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred and/or combination of (2) years education courses and/or work experience.
  2. Must have a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
