Position Description

Performs all maintenance and repair work within Tribal buildings and exterior of the same: receives direct supervision from the Public Works Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintenance Duties
  1. Maintains upkeep of all plumbing fixtures throughout Tribal buildings
  2. Repairs minor damages to buildings that might occur
  3. Maintains upkeep of lighting fixtures within Tribal complex
  4. Assist Inter-Departmental directors with moving of office furniture, etc.
  5. Performs any and all related assignments and other duties as assigned by supervisor
  6. Assist with facility equipment inventories as required
Custodian Duties
  1. Maintains and cleans offices, reception area and restrooms
  2. Sweeps, mops waxes, and buff floors and hallways
  3. Vacuums, dusts, clean, and maintain furniture, equipment and fixtures
  4. Collects and removes all wastepaper and trash
  5. Washes walls, windows, mirrors, lights fixtures, toilets, sinks, and urinals
  6. Replenishes towels, tissues and other restroom supplies and light bulbs
  7. Receives custodial supplies and transports to proper locations
  8. Maintain facility entranceway and exit in an orderly and safe environment for all visitors and personnel
  9. Must maintain confidentiality
  10. Other job related duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Doctor of Optometry Degree and a Nevada license to practice Optometry including certification in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals.
  2. Prefer three (3) years of optical experience preferably in Indian Health or tribal clinic setting.
  3. Enrolled and/or eligible as a Medicaid or other third-party insurance provider.
  4. Prefer an Optometrist with a valid and active DEA license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Must have the ability to learn the methods, materials, and equipment ordinarily used in cleaning to assure that the facility is clean and sanitary
  2. Must have a basic knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment (i.e. wet vacuum, buffer) and industrial cleaning supplies

Licenses & Certificates / Other Requirements

  1. THIS POSITION REQUIRES COMPLIANCE WITH THE INDIAN CHILD PROTECTION and FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION ACT PUBLIC LAW 101-630; 25 CODE of FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 63 – INDIAN CHILD PROTECTION and FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION; CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1990, EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND CHECKS; and EXECUTIVE ORDER 12968, ADJUDICATIVE GUIDELINES AND THEREFORE MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE AN EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND CHECK BEFORE START EMPLOYMENT.

  1. One-year experience indicated as assuring that those skills listed will be performed
  2. Must be able to lift 100 pounds

Relocation costs may include, but are not limited to, the following: healthcare provider and immediate family member travel costs, lodging and meal expenses, cost of moving household goods (including insurance), the packing/unpacking of household goods and appliances, first month of rent/mortgage costs, and security/deposit costs for essential utilities. The healthcare provider shall agree in writing to repay any relocation expense if, within one year following the healthcare provider’s start date, the employee terminates employment with the Tribe. Exceptions to repayment of the relocation expense must be approved in writing by the Chairman and Tribal Administrator.
